Pressure Transducer Problems

07/27/2009 7:58 AM

Dear all,

I am trying to measure the pressure drop in microchannels with the simple flow setup. I am using a Setre pressure transducer with single inlet for pressure drop measurement. It takes a long time nearly 3hrs for the pressure transducer to give a steady value. Any idea why this happens? when i put just the tubing alone in the setup, it takes about 30mins for saturation. the setup is with a simple syringe pump-->tubing--> pressure transducer-->microchannel-->outlet to a container. The typical size of channel is about 10micron deep 100micro wide and about 2cm long.

Thanks

Barani

Hi there, Long times for a steady measurement may be a result of thermal stabilization of your signal conditioner, not only the pressure transducer itself. 30 minutes is a "standard" to wait withh all power up in the instrumentation before starting to measure anything that has a minimum precision requirement. 3 hours is a long time, but maybe you are experiencing some temperature fluctuations in your electronics during this time. Just an idea.
