If you don't feel as though this question is worth researching and discovering yourself, then I don't feel it is worth my time or effort either.

Try googling relevent terms and see what comes up (it is what I would be doing if I were you).

Well its difficult when they don't have the full nomenclature. (ie balance of spec designation.) Nor the product form. regards.

Google ASTM A 106C and ASTM A53B properties and you will get a couple of thousand links

But still better to get hold of the standards

My apologies. A lot of people post questions here that can easily been googled and answered, but instead of doing the minuscule amount of research work, they just post here.

I am sorry for my harsh comment.

Wasn't harsh. It was a defecive question to begin with. Sb (correctly??!) suppliedthe expected prefixes... THAT is supposed to be supplied by the requestor.

A basic tenet of contract review is that ALL OF THE REQUIRED details are supplied by the requuesting party.

Some times I feel really gulity

Both are pipe materials (if my interpretations are right) with quite different properties.

Whenever someone asks me to compare this types i get scared.

Why do one wants a comarison? Do I want A but available is B ? These are extremely dangerous territory. A designer proper will never ask these questions since the code books and standards are there with him.

Right on.

Why become the engineer of record by supplying the info that their negligence has omitted?

Then what of their negligence and omission?

You have correctly identified serious issue.

The basic difference being of composition. SA106 contain silicon of around .1% whereas A53 contain zero percent due to which heat resitance of SA-106 is better..
