Cable Length

hello

i want to measure cable length in two nodes in profinet n/w how i can measure it by online communication with plc sysytem or thier any other way to measure it.

i can not measure it physically due to un accesability

For a given diameter of conductor Resistance is proportional to length. So a ohmmeter connected with PC with small software can work.

You stand at the initiator and have a buddy stand at the receiver.

You initiate an action and record the time. You buddy notices that action and records the time. The difference is the time difference/ speed of light.

You can use a TDR(Time Domain Reflectometer)
