Questions About TEMA

1) What is the minimum holding time for a hydrostatic test required by TEMA?

2) For tube sheet >1" thickness which are to have tubes expanded, how many grooves required per hole by TEMA?

3) What are the requirements for the length of tube to be expanded in the tube sheet?

4) Is nozzle projection allowed inside the heat exchanger shell?

Per TEMA 8th Ed:

1) 30 minutes minimum

2) In general with Tubes 5/8" OD and larger, 2 grooves required.

3) Tubes shall be flush or protrude less than 1/2 Tube OD.

4) Yes as long as no interference with Bundle Insertion and removal. Nozzle projections must be self venting.
