Measuring Wax Thickness Over Alumina Wire

08/05/2009 1:40 PM

have difficult to measure wax thickness over alumina wire. The wire run at 3500ft/min speed and coated by wax solution. try to measure the thickness of wax coating (0.002 mils range, less than 1 micron). do anybody know instrument or method that can do the online measurement? thanks!

210,000 FPH?

58.33 FPS? Just want to be sure of the speed.

And, 1 micron is really thin!

What kind of "wax"?

yes, 210,000 FPH

it is thin layer of coating, less than 1 micron. the wax is Paraffin wax.

Thank you for your reply!

Are you sure about 0.002Mils? Thats about 1/200th a micron(50 nanometer).

0.002 mil = 1/20μ = 50nm (missed or rather added one zero in 20 and made 200 .

It might be 0.002" = 50μ a probable size for wax.

yes, the coating thinkness range from 0.002mil to 0.02 mil. Ideally should be control at 0.02 mil. but it goes to 0.002mil sometime.

Are you sure you don't mean aluminum? Alumina is aluminum oxide.

There are feed rollers electrically charged to count "sparks/ft" on magnet wire, they count every hi-volt discharge from wheel to wire thru the bad insulation spot, I guess you'll have to design something like a capacitance meter from the metal wheel to the wire and have a fast readout device or log the data.

it is a good idea. the issue is we may need to calibrate the system everytime we run different size. as well, no sure the how accurate the method will be. is there any contact between wheel and wire? Thanks!

I hope this letter and following proposal will show you my possibilities.

Proposition for cooperation with You in sphere of new solutions for receive PIONER technologies on a basis of composition, manufacture and application of chemical binders .

Currently I work in the field of applied solutions for competitive industrial technologies; introduce innovation production schemes for concrete stock product.

My team has demonstrated positive actions in the area of implementation of applied high-technology solutions for ALL kinds of chemistry and industry chemical composition materials.

The target of my work is getting a competitive product.

We have a list of know-how, some of them already work and some are ready for

implementation and can be present for industrial market.

Our confidence is based on successfully working research groups formed of

well known scientists and researchers together with their highly professional teams.

Here is a list of the fields, in which we are able to successfully compete:

1. Composition polymer materials. Surface protective compositions in ALL kind of

environments. (Organic Chemistry)

2. Mineral composition materials. Construction materials. (Inorganic Chemistry)

3. Biological products and its modification.

4. Adsorption, absorption and desorption functions of environmentally friendly materials.

5. Special solutions for petroleum chemistry. Directivity modification of practice products.

6. Development of new catalysis process.

7. Natural fibers and materials form theirs, its function and composition

purposeful modification.

8. Development at request of new technology circuit

design.

9. Managing pilot production in Ukraine.

We realistically asses our potential which is unique and at the same time we realize that this potential can be significantly increased by means of partnership with a powerful company that we could work together for mutual benefit.

I wish you to consider my team professional brain resources as a base for possible

cooperation with some segments of your business related to the chemical field.

Best regards, sincerely yours,
