Title is "Facility Engineer" (keep in mind titles don't mean much)

Manage maintenance staff, upkeep of facilities and grounds, continuous improvement efforts leading to cost savings, improved safety, improved throughput, research new trends and how they apply to our operation

Review work of maintenance personnel from previous day, plan next days maintenance work, project review and management of any open projects such as new machinery, upgrades to equipment, cost savings intiatives, handle daily production issues that deal with maintenance or engineering (broken components, things not working correctly), calling on vendors and consultants based on projects and status, provide input to other departments regarding production and quality
4. What are the average earnings for someone just getting into this type of job?
Ave starting salary for an individual just graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering is roughly $50,000/yr US
5. What are the average earnings for someone who has experience in this job?
Ave earnings for a degreed engineer in this field is $70,000 - $90,000 with 7 - 10 years of experience
6. What education and training is needed to get a beginning job in this field?
BSME ( Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering), BSCE (Civil Engineer)

It's exclusive to dealing with people, data, and things. Everyday you will deal with people in some form. (discipline, brainstorming, delegating) You make decisions based off of the data you have. (ROI - return on investments, capability analysis, etc)
9. What are advantages of this type of job or career?
Money is good, freedom of creativity, high levels of responsibility, very involved with many parts of business, meeting new people and building networks, designing new things or improving on existing designs
10. What are disadvantages of this type of job or career?
Hrs can get long for new product launches or equipment installs, can get boring unless company is doing well, projects can get put on hold if money is tight
11. Do you ever get sick/tired of your job?
Yes, it's natural. Trying to find a balance between life and work is the key. What makes you happy? Find that and do it. Find ways to make work interesting or to stay engaged (training, tradeshows, etc...)
12. What is the average cost of schooling for someone looking to get into this career?
Depending on size of university - $30,000 - $70,000. If you're considering engineering, make sure they are ABET accredited!!!
