Hi,

Thickness of Flat plate calculation as per UG 34 of ASME VIII DIV1 UG 34 used to calculate the thickness plate . But How to find the thicknes if the plates are welded with stiffeners

If a truck is overweight will reducing air pressure of tyres lower the vehicle weight?

How you doing?

Yes reducing the air in a tire will reduce the total weight of the vehicle.

You can say that a Litre of air weighs ~ 1 gram. But I am not sure how much air is in a tire. Depends on the size of the tire as well.

I would imagine the air in the truck 'tires' would weigh several Kilos? I have forgotten how the Math works, sorry. If you can tell me the area of the inside of a truck tire I think I can tell you the weigh, how about that? Better that a smack in the face with a wet fish? ;=)

Yes the OP's request is not exactly the most readable piece on CR4. It is almost a statement really. I feel there should have been another bit that is missing?

You should calculate the section modulus with stiffners. Otherwise use STAAD or other softwares

Yes, I agree. Then determine what the equivalent thickness is w/o stiffners. Finally, check your stresses to makes sure they are acceptable.
