1972 VW Beetle - Manual and Web Sites?

08/10/2009 1:34 AM

Hi Everyone, This week i'm buying a 1972 VW Beetle, the car is in good shape relatively but still a lot of work a parts. I need to know if there exists any manual for the beetle that i can use to repair my car, or any website that also can help me in repairing it and buying parts. Thank you.

I used to have a book titled: "How to Keep Your Volkswagon Alive: A Step byStep Manual for the Complete Idiot", published around 1970 or so. Covered everything from changing a tail light to rebuilding the engine. If you can find a copy, get it.

I concur on both Haynes and the idiot book... I currently do not own a VW, but still enjoy reading the "compleat" idiot book.

My son got me a copy for Christmas, I forgot how enjoyable the book and illustrations are.

I have not owned a VW in way too many years, but like your first love, you never forget your first bug! (Much like your first British car, but thats another story!)

There are a ton of very enthusiastic VW owners... you'll have no problems getting help and advice.... an internet search will yield tons of information.

good luck, have fun

Try, Helm, Inc.

They make/have original OwnersManuals, Repair Manuals, etc.

Howdy, I bought a 1958 bug (my third I've owned) a couple years ago and found the following web sites invaluable: classicvws.com, vw-resource.com, thesamba.com and a parts supplier Wolfsburg West. Enjoy!

Thanks a lot, actually i had a small change of plans. i was buying a 1972 model but yesterday i found a 1965 one. i think i will buy the 1965 model cause its better looking when it comes to bumpers and i noticed that the rear lights are smaller.
