Bus Bar Size Calculations

Dear all,

please guide me regarding how to decide busbar sizes in control panels?,means which factor affects current carrying capacity of conductor/busbar? & how?

please give me detail therotical calculations/write up regarding this.

If your system is DC, then calculation is very simple due to absence of skin effect, If your system is AC supply system then only one reliable source of information. Please click following link. some IEC standard also available for panel, but before that you go through given link:-

For design you need SC current and rated current, according to this you will find cross section for given current rating. after that from SC current you will be Abel to find a forces between two bus bar. from that forces you will get spacing between two bus bar and from that you will find a spacing between two support.

I give you a GA, since your CDA reference is more precisee than mine. I only gave the CDA home page, since I also look for copper pipe and plate for various applications. You directly linked to CDA bus bar data!
