PSA nitrgen plant gas recovery

08/23/2009 3:37 AM

Hello every one,

we have a PSA based Nitrogen generation plant, it seperates nitrogen and oxygen from atmosphere. After seperation the reject gas which vented into atmosphere is rich in oxygen(about95%). Can it be used it for any commercial purpose in a plant.

I was wondering can it be supplied to boiler, or make use of it in anyother way instead of venting it to atmosphere

Hospitals need Liquid oxygen. You can try to store the excessive oxygen in liquid form and sell it either through pipe net works or tanker all as per HTM standards.

Depends on what your plant does. I used to work in lead furnaces, where adding oxygen to the blast air increased the efficiency of the furnace. The reduction in nitrogen blown through the furnace reduced the load on the fans and reduced the amount of fuel needed. At a pulp mill where I also worked, oxygen is used to bleach the pulp. This reduces the need for chlorine. More envoirmently friendly.Oxygen could be fed in with the combustion air to a boiler to improve efficiency, BUT there would have to be safeguards installed to stop oxygen flow, if the fire is lost.

Ours is a chemical industry, unfortunately with no use of oxygen any in the process. Using it boiler seems to be good idea. how safe is it?or anyother methods of using it?
