What is meant by Supervisory contacts , & how does EOL achieve this

jose; end of line is the last device attached to that circuit,could be a resistor or a zener diode, if you had a break in wiring you would be notified. usually with alarm systems perry

The EOL is located across the terminals of the last device in the circuit. The supervisory/control/monitoring system has built in circuitry that allows the system to monitor the circuit resistance, therefore if there is a break in the circuit (open circuit) or a short anywhere in the circuit the supervisory/control/monitoring system detects this infinite or zero resistance, interprets it to be an abnormal or fault condition and generates and alarm/warning/trip etc.

EOLs are commonly used in Fire Detection Systems and SISs.
