BMW 2000, Z3, 2.5 L, engine Code # P1250 and P1477

08/25/2009 3:54 PM

Hi:

I have a BMW 2000, Z3, 2.5 L, with engine Code # P1250 and P1477.

Would some one be able to tell me what these codes are that make the check engine light to stay on?

Suggestions in where to look for it and how to resolve it are very welcom.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Bijan

Buy a repair manual for the vehicle, It will contain your code list, with solutions.

My service literature does not even list a P1250 or P1477 for a 2000 BMW Z3 Roadster 2.5L.

Either my literature is wrong, or your code #s are incorrect. I would lean more towards the latter, but foreign vehicle data has led me astray before.

Both codes are manufacturer specific codes. In other words, anything above a P1000 has a definition that is not standard to most vehicles. The cause could be a standard problem, but the tests or conclusions are BMW specific.

can you verify the year (or give VIN#) and the actual code number delivered?

I googled it for you. I don't mean to be rude, but I spent like 5 minutes.

P1477 (Leakage diagnostic pump reed switch did not open).

P1250 is a "FUEL LEVEL TOO LOW" code. means the fuel level sensor is going out.

That's all the codes will tell you. You'll probably have to go to a mechanic to sort it out now.
