The instuments we manufactured had a hexidecimal display, that we refered to as a binary code display. I forgot the term Binary Code Decimal. (I must be aging myself.) The instrumentation was used to display an analog signal from load cell outputs (strain gages),converted to digital. It was then put into a digital readout, the signals were processed into comparators, for limit controllers.

It would really be more effective if you would actually give some background and then ask a complete question rather than have subscribers read your mind....
