Canflo Filters, Who Are They Now?

08/27/2009 1:23 PM

I'm currently working on a project, which was originally built 20+ years ago. I'm getting part info from the BOM on this ancient hand drawn schematic. I've been able to source everything but this little filter/strainer made by Canflo. I cant find anything on the Web, and I'm completely unfamiliar with Canflo.

So, Does anyone know who bought Canflo? Or maybe if they do still exist how to get a hold of someone there? Or possibly know how to cross reference their parts to something built today?

The particular part number I'm having trouble with is: CFF2-540-238-V-M

If I even knew the specs i could probably find something to work in its place... But I'm at a loss here. I've contacted National Filters who aparently stock Canflo... but they knew nothing.

Anyone know anything about Canflo?

I got some hits when I added a "w" to canflo.

I think it is Canadian filter technology. Try searching on "canflow"

I believe the Canadian Canflow company is waste management/spill clean-up service... their company description:

DescriptionEnvironmental services, hazardous and non-hazardous liquid and solid waste disposal and treatment, waste transportation, lab services, emergency spill cleanup services.

I don't think those are the guys who are manufacturing filters.... I'll give them a call anyway, just to be sure.

Just called Canflow, And found out that indeed, they are not a manufacturer of any type of filtration.

I think Canflo, evaporated, and now I have this stinking part to which I cannot seem to find a replacement.

My mind is slow, but this rings a bell - is the application for Hydraulic?

But, I found this:

CanFlo - Sold to Dynamic Fluid Components & Gems - maybe a search for this one will help?

Excellent! Do you have a reference? I'll be searching, but it would be great to know where you got this info.

Thank you.

I'll be searching, but it would be great to know where you got this info.

Spent some quality time with Bing!

Although, I came up flat on the spec. # that you needed, trying to find either cartridges, or assemblies...

Do you know the function/application/performance that is needed for your project?

Hi RVZ717,

I searched for "canflo filter strainer" and just "canflo" and "can-flo" and pretty much got a good responce.

I did not find a "canflo" company. However they are listed under lots of companies for sale. It may be hydrafi.coml, or national filters.com 'own' them now or, have bought the trading name camflo and cam-flo

I have listed a few here in case you actually want a filter. Canflo RSE60-25N - Hydraulic Filter Element by: Canflo - Hydrafil.com Canflo RSE60-25N (RxC1DD39-S8-25CLB) by Canflo, Micron Rating 25, psid 100, Length 8 - The Only Way To Buy Hydraulic Filters.

Thank you for the help. We were able to source a replacement, apparently Canflo went under or was bought out a while ago, still no real solid proof who bought them, and how to cross reference the parts. . Ahh well... We basically took measurements, and called around til someone had something close. Its a filter/strainer, for a hydraulic application. approx 6" Dia, open on both ends, with lip seals. It looks very much like a standard pool/spa filter, except for the materials from which it's made.

Thanks again.

It's Funny, National filters Carry CanFlo Filters, but knew absolutely nothing of the product we were talking, and the guy on the other end of the phone, knew nothing about the company "Canflo" other than they carried some stuff with that name.

Should have asked if any of the canflo filters they had in stock had an address / phone number / web site printed on the packaging.

Hi RVZ7117,

I have listed a few which are sold by this seller as canflo. But there is more under the name of can-flo.

I know this is not cross referencing, but, with so many filters out there, of so many differing sizes I have yet to find a cross reference for any. The way to 'cross reference' them is to see if they are screw op or not. The size of the screw, the length, and width of the filter, and if they are not screw-on, measure the central gap to make sure they will fit your machine. BTW What is your machine? Do the references below jolt any memories? ==============================================

Bear in mind that these companies below are probably sellers of filters so, the fact they do not mention "conflo" in the 'blurb' does not mean they do not have them or that they cannot cross reference them.

At least two of these companies is a cross reference site.

Good luck, and keep in touch if you have any more questions. I would be obliged if you can say if you are 'just wondering' what happened to canflo, or if you actually want/need a filter? In which case is looks like both these companies will 'fit the bill'.

National Filter, Inc cross-reference shows a Canflo hydraulic filter #C2540238S available for $164.38. Assuming your part number breaks down to CanFloFilter (CFF) 2540238-V-M, could be to same basic specs of size and efficiency.

Very interesting, So maybe I could have got a better response from national if I dropped the first three letter desingnators... which I never thought might have stood for CanFloFilter...CFF... hmmm.

Thank you... thank you all.

We have found a replacement... from another brand/company which will work for our application.. we can get the customer up and running again. However, It would be nice to know for future reference, what the heck happened to the company.
