The Six Phases of a Project

About 20 years ago someone gave me a paper with the "Six Phases of a Project" on it. Over the years I have lost the paper, found it, lost it and found it many times. Often I feared that it was lost for good. I'm happy to say that I have found it again. I'm sad to say that in the last 20+++ years the list has been correct far too many times.

THE SIX PHASES OF A PROJECT

1. Enthusiasm

2. Disillusionment

3. Panic

4. Search for the Guilty

5. Punishment of the Innocent

6. Praise & Honors for the Non-Participants

I'll send this to my friend, who is working Saturday, even though they do not have all the parts in hand to complete the cabling project, which is behind schedule already.

This is prominently displayed on the walls of our product development division. Curiously everyone believes item 6 applies to them as victims. Bioramani

OMGosh! I JUST found my copy of this, too. Mine was from a seminar on the fundamentals of inventory management given by Robert E. Olsen in 1995. It's a good one.

We the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, for so many, with so little, for so long, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing.

I related this subject to the Engineering staff in the office in Maracaibo,

Veneuela, where I was Proj. Mgr. in 1982. It was truely appreciated translated in

Spanish & widely circulated!!!!!! The other one that applies is that our employees

always give 100%::

Monday 12%

Tuesday 22%

Wednesday 36%

Thursday 25%

Friday 5%
