Last year Bill Gates got a patent on the protection of concepts. Thus, you now can't apply for a patent without purchasing a license from M$.

I watched it and am glad to see some basic information is being presented in a clear manner directly from the USPTO. I am glad that in the audio presentation, the idea of "mailing your invention to yourself" is discouraged and a common and legally defensible method is stated. That method of establishing invention date is a properly executed notebook.

The patent system is complex so having some basic knowledge directly from the USPTO (United States Patent And Trademark Office) as a road-map will help inventors. By having in mind some general knowledge we are better equipped to make correct decisions ahead of time that may keep us out of litigation later.
