Dynamic Consideration for Rotating Assembly

hi, i am new to dynamic analysis. i would like to find out more regarding analysing, say a drive shaft of a automobile engine. I understand that some form of balancing may be required to minimise vibration; i would like to find out what other dynamic consideration(s) is/are required?

Vibration is the main issue. In addition to balancing, consider also checking the natural frequencies of the part. They may cause you some surprises as induced efforts and vibrations apparently with no reason.

Couplings are also an issue. But I don't know exactly what you mean about dynamic analysis.

Without further details rearding your project, its hard to say more.

thanks for replying.

since the natural frequency of each part has to be determined, do i do this individually or at assembly level?

also since the speed of rotation relates to frequency, when the assembly starts to rotate from start to full rpm, it will be going through a series of frequencies, so must the individual part be designed to avoid these frequencies?

sorry for such a question but i am really new in this area.
