Dismantling a Seized Pin-Bearing Bush

09/01/2009 11:25 PM

Dismantling an articulation Pin-Bearing Bush which is seized. The pin is 60 mm diameter, looks like never was greased. I am using de greaser and a hydraulic jack of 100 T and not movement is recorded.

I remember I read somewhere about a method of using the electrical current to burn the rust between the surfaces in contact.

Did someone has any suggestions

Thanks.

Heat the bearing bushing with a torch till the bushing boils water(really hot). Put ice on the pin, not the bushing, and wait 30 seconds, or so. Then drive it out.

I am a fan of plasma cutters and cutting torches myself! I haven't found a metal component yet that one of them couldn't remove by one means or another.
