What is the difference between single and dual element thermocouples?

Hi

Single Element - contain one thermocouple

Dual Element - Two thermocouple elements housed within one thermocouple hardware assembly.

You can have single, dual and tri element thermocouples. You usually use a tri-level thermocouple when measuring temperatues at different levels of the medium you are measuring. e.g you can measure the temp at the bottom, at the middle and on top of the fluid you will be measuring with one tri-element thermocouple
