Molding Wire Connector

09/15/2009 7:04 PM

We are having a problem on our connectors, water is leaking and it is making corrosion on pins, some body knows a cheap process to seal or encapsutale the connector?

Get a tube of RTV silicone and seal all the potential leak paths.

Without proper information, that's all I can do.

We have several kinds of connectors, they need looks presentable, but we can't spend much money on expensive equipment, we are trying to do something cheap to solve this problem, we want to something like you have on your AC power cord but not with liquid silicon or rubber.

Find a polyethylene tube that will fit over the wiring harness and seal against the connector with tape. Cut to proper length, install over harness and tape in place and fill with compound.

Warming assembly too 100 F will facilitate flow.

When I worked with marine magnetometer cables and side scan sonars where we had cable connections that were submerged in salt water we used Dow Corning #4 grease to seal and water proof the connections. This worked well to seal the EO connections we had on our equipment.

Here is a description of the material: http://www.ellsworth.com/display/productdetail.html?productid=334&Tab=vendors

Have FUN!
