UPS output power is limited by software program settings and the ability of the battery to provide power for the allowable duration of power loss.

My battery died but showed a full charge. However it could not provide the current required because the conductor inside was eaten away by corrosion.

I checked it by letting it operate for a day and then pulled the power plug to make it think there was a power failure. It worked for a moment then died.

It needed a new battery. The batteries in the store did not have date codes and could have a shorter life expectancy than new ones.

So I bought a new UPS so it would be covered by warranty.

When I find a reliable source for a new battery I will have a UPS for two of my computers.
