Some engineering and computer jobs declining in 2005

06/16/2005 10:26 AM

According to the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), five engineering and technical job classifications are showing declines in employment. Those falling include: Computer Hardware Engineers, Computer & Info. Systems Managers, Computer Programmers, Computer Software Engineers and Electrical & Electronics Engineers. However, Computer Scientists & Systems Analysts are showing a dramatic increase. The data is based on changes seen between the first quarter of 2005 vs. the 2004 average.

Electrical & Electronics Engineers down -2.3%. Sigh. As a bonus I do believe that electronic engineers as a whole are in more demand, just not in the US.
