2D Frame Analysis

10/14/2009 11:56 AM

Hello, I have made a 2d frame analysis program which I would like to check calculates the values correctly. The only 2D program I have which isn't my own is a program the also calculates with the weigh of the frame, my program does not do that and I would like to check my program with a program that sees the elements as weightless.

Do you guys know about any free programs that can do this good and wasy for me?

question to old engineers:

I have heard that in the old days, it was very important how you chose the nodes in the frame, because the stiffness matrix should be diogobnal dominant so that the computer could invert it as easy as possible.

Altough it is not as important today do you guys know any tricks choosing the nodes so that the matrix is diogan dominant?

1- in the programme you have put weight=0 and you get the computation without weight!

2- "I have heard that in the old days, it was very important how you chose the nodes in the frame, because the stiffness matrix should be diogobnal (diagonal) dominant so that the computer could invert it as easy as possible."

"Altough it is not as important today do you guys know any tricks choosing the nodes so that the matrix is diogan (diagonal) dominant?"

there is a spelling corrector which allows such errors as you have in your text would be good for the seriousness of the presentation to use it!

If the weight is NOT important you consider the "old" way simulating the elements as weightless and the nodes are only where loads are intrduced or where components meet .
