What does your resume look like, giri? Can you add it in a comment to your original post?

Yes, Seeing what you have already will save a bunch of time, add a bunch of responses, and its kind of like some free advertising for yourself in case someone who recruits is on the prowel...

If you were paying someone to produce your resume, they would request that you tell them what you have already done. Education/experience details are required here, too.

Otherwise, not much we can do. The more detail you give the better the answer.

That is, if anyone chooses to help.

I would look at www.monster.com and search for resumes like the one you want and then use it as a model for your own.

Hello giri,

I have found the details are important in a Resumé.

Giving the past company names and address' is not enough.

Where ever possible, give accurate dates, address' and contact details......... Mr "Soandso".

Mention any written qualifications and or diploma's you have. Give details of specific skills whether 'physical' or 'mental' and how you came to get those skills.

Start off with your Interests as a child and why you liked doing that particular thing and the stuff you really enjoyed doing while you were in school which may have been the reason you chose your first job. What you found you enjoyed most, the organising, day to day work, the people, because you were given a certain 'freedom' to do things as long as you did your work. That you did your own job and also helped in other sections or department's' without being asked, which would broaden your skills, that kind of thing.

Put in your own words why you went for the Job and why you liked the job, place and or people and, any other things which may have been an incentive to perhaps work harder or stay in the job you went for, like a games room, Gym, Canteen etc.

Give true and honest reasons and try and write sequentially from the first day on a particular job, what you had to do and what you were responsible for in the factory or work site. If for instance you may have started a new regime that was a success. Whether you felt you improved safety and whether the way you worked with your colleagues achieved more loyalty, better time keeping etc?

Imagine the person you are talking with will pick up the phone and ring any named person whom he or she may ask about or you may have mentioned in conversation, to confirm what you have said!.

Do not forget to write your full name and address and perhaps any email address and phone number. Whether you are Married and how many Kids you have. What you do in your spare time and do you get to take your whole Family or named people to a picnic, swimming, bowling, football, baseball etc.

Are you a DIY expert or do you get others in to do it? Are you into Engineering and do you have a speciality? This all gives the Interviewer a way of judging where to place you and your achievements, and how you think you would fit into your potentially new company position?

Have in mind a good reply when you are asked why you want that job and what you think you can bring which will possibly help or improve things, given the chance!

Good luck and perhaps you can post a copy or part of a copy of your new Resume?

Take care.

Re: Resume Advice

*Your resume is to be drafted based on the job requirement that you are going to apply for.

*It should meet the requirement of the company needs and impress on matching needs.

*In your case the resume apart from your general, qualification and contact details, should describe your area of exposure, handled machines, processes, production or maintenance or management, your handling experience.

*It should also express your confidence to take the job on application.

*Then comes your personal attitudes and capabilities- make it more realistic and simple and don't add any emotional attachments.

*Specific achievements, certificates of merits, awards, data related to production improvement, cost reductions will add more value.

*You may also add your areas of interest and responsibilities.

*A smart photograph, hand written pages, hobbies, specializations, extra qualifications, under going studies and reference to persons can add value.

The resume got to be a honest evaluation for you, precise and simple to read and of a original style. The format and content is flexible and variable and don't copy others and present it in your original style.

*The salary expectation part make it negotiable and don't specify any lavish figures, since it is on a competitive offer of service.

Rest your experience got to teach.

BEST WISHES.

Thank you Babybear for the G.A. I could also find some critcal tips from your post no 5.Leaving apart all the decorations in the RESUME- the real test is based on the personal interview which should confirm the features of the RESUME.

I like a single page resume myself. I don't want to shuffle around with pages to try and find some information while giving an interview. I tend to lean towards the KISS principle. Keep it simple, direct, and useful. I do not want to know about your childhood aspirations, or your aunt Betty, I only want to know the information that pertains to the position you are applying for.

You don't need help from an engineer, you need help from a technical writer, and career planner.

Hello giri,

I found it looks better and delineates one piece of information from another, if you put an 'outline box' around each piece. Makes it look 'finished' somehow? Each box should be the same distance from the sides of the paper, and if possible, contain about the same number of written lines as the next. Take care.

Re: Resume Advice

*The pages got to be as minimum as possible, since initial short listing the HRD will be finding it easy at their level to scrutinize.

*Make sure the critical points you want to impress are given darker and impressive fonts.

*Some organizations look for hand written resumes to decide on graphological evaluation[ estimation of persons characteristics by reading hand writing].

*Hence it is better to provide a covering letter giving reference to the Name of the post applied for, Advertisement details and a polite request, apart from the typed RESUME.

*After preparation and print outs take the opinion of a third person[ certainly not your colleagues to maintain confidentiality],who can critically verify the presentation.

*Avoid spelling mistakes and grammatical errors to make a good impression.

Second stage best wishes.
