Advanced Metering System for Electrical Distribution

11/03/2009 3:05 AM

As smart meters are being installed by many utlities even in developing countries,i feel that it would be possible to curtail dishonest abstraction economically if we can install meter with following arrangements. suppose we have to effect electric service connection to a group of customers ,say 10 or 15, in a particular campus or apartments, or shopping complex , we are installing individual energy meter for individual customer, giving a chance to meddle it by that particular customer.Such dishonest abstraction are detected in large number in major cities, where distribution is made through power cables. As the metering technology has advanced in recent days, and energy accounting is made by collecting digital data of voltage supplied and current drawn by by customer. Therefore it must feasible to have common voltage data for group of customer and individual current data and energy consumption registry with separate display units for individual customers . With this arrangements, meddling of registry by an individual customer will be very difficult. Is there any such smart metering in usage. if in usage please communicate details of manufacturerer
