Confusion about a Resistance Bulb

11/07/2009 8:59 AM

Hi guys,

I have a small confusion about resistance bulb. If i am not wrong, Resistance Bulbs and RTD are the same thing right ??? Resistance Bulb is for motor windings temperature applications ????? would request more input on resistance bulb, especially it's difference from RTD

Since you are confused if a RB and a RTD are the same thing or not, then I suggest that you spell out what an RTD and a Resistance Bulb are in your own words. Your confusion may come from an incorrect decoding of the acronym RTD.

Usman,

You missed the day they talked about that at GIKI?

You use of a computer with internet access with its choice of search engines so I am surprised that you can not tell us the answer to that small confusion.

The RB has peripheral circuitry for the outside world. It uses an RTD senser or other sensor probe to sense temperature and translates the value for whatever the RB is used for.

Typical Applications
Direct contact input(s) to annunciators, lights and horns ·Machinery and process temperature alarm / protection ·Level alarm using resistor tapes ·On / off temperature control ·Sensor interface to computer / programmable controllers ·High / low temperature alarm ·HVAC applications ·Differential temperature detector alarm

Resistance Bulb Sensor: Two, three, or four wire types and differential sensors. 1.5 to 1, 000 Ohms Resistance Span: Standard. Platinum, nickel, and copper RTDs.

Make Sense?

Jon
