Has any one any experience or heard of anyone having their Chev Venture experience uncontrolled acceleration in reverse or forward for that matter.I was unable to get any information from my internet search. Thanks for any comments.

No, but it sounds exciting!

Your pedal getting stuck on your floor-mat?

Check for a small gremlin hiding in your glovebox.

I don't know about the Venture specifically, but this is not a new phenomenon. In the late 1980s there were reports that Audis (particularly the 5000 model) were prone to unintended acceleration. Soon some Oldsmobile models were said to suffer from this problem. More and more makes and models wound up on the list of offenders. After a lot of research and testing buy the DOT the government's conclusion was that the problem was driver error, compounded by panic.

Some tests at the time showed that the brakes on all those cars were more than capable of stalling the engine. (You can do testing like this on your own, but it can be hard on the drive train). So the claims changed from simple unintended acceleration to acceleration with simultaneous brake failure, even though post-wreck examination showed the brakes and engines were normal and without mechanical faults. In the end the condition was never duplicated during testing by government or independent facilities, and no mechanism was ever identified that would cause the simultaneous events.

Incidents continue to occur where drivers claim (and are willing to swear) that their cars accelerated suddenly and forcefully even though they were standing on the brakes.

I'm not familiar with the Venture but I can relate a problem I encountered years ago which may be of help.

In the 1960's certain Pontiacs had a problem with the accelerator pedal sticking wide open. The problem was resolved to loose or broken motor mounts; causing the engine to torgue and bind the accelerator linkage.

Food for thought,

-John

Yes I was aware of the gm problem in the late 60's. Motor mount came apart.

I have a 2005 pontiac sunfire. It gives a small jump in speed when in reverse. a few seconds after selecting reverse, which is startling when you try to park in a tight spot. Not every time in reverse.

2.2 liter, 4 sp auto. never got fixed. forgot to re mention to dealer before warranty ran out.
