1999 Honda Accord LX - Power Door Locks

11/24/2009 9:48 AM

I have a problem with the power door locks on the right hand(front and back) side doors, they would not activate from within the car, from the key out side the door, or from the alarm remote, the power door locks on the left side, works fine: I have taken the inners out on both right hand doors, and I have checked for any obvious problems, blown fuses, lose connectors or wire intermittent harnesses, but no luck, there has to be a control panel, or driver somewhere in the dash, or in the doors but I can seem to find it, if anyone experinced a similar problem, I will really appreciate your help.

Thanks

Regards

Googled and found this:

Q: You have a 2000 Honda Civic with door lock problems that seems to be happening to the drivers side door not locking or unlocking with using the keyless entry Is this in the door or a fuse problem?

A: My 2000 civic had horrible issues with lubrication on the lock mechanism. It made the noise like it would unlock, but would promptly lock again. After having the service dudes fix it every month for 2 years I decided to try fixing it myself. By removing the door panel, I found that the runnels where the rain water goes, happen to flood the door mechanism, causing stiffness. I managed to get it to work by soaking the mechanisim in Engine oil.

In your situation:

When standing near the driver side and activating the un/lock via remote, do you hear it trying to un/lock? Do your parking lights flash? If you push lock twice in a row does the horn beep?

Is it difficult to un/lock using the manual locking lever? (A trick with honda to lock the door manually when the door is open is to hold the door handle in the open position and close the lock).

If you said yes to the above, more than likely you have a lube issue. You may need to remove the door panel to gain minimal access to the locking mechanism.

If your parking lights don't flash, change your remote battery! If that ain't it, you may need to re-program your Keyless entry with your fob. Else, take it in for service.

Another bit of info on Honda power door locks/windows:

Lucky for you, there's a simple, quick and clean fix that seems to solve the problem a large percentage of the time. The solution was tested for 6th generation Honda Accords, but will surely work on a number of models since the MCU[/link (an electronic brain that runs stuff) will be designed similarly.

The fix is simple. With the ignition off, set the intermittent wiper control to the middle position, then turn the car on. This resets the brain and gets things back to normal. So ...

Bingo - looks like best website

http://www.2carpros.com/forum/1999-honda-accord--power-door-lock-won't-work-on-both-passen-vt169610.htm

lThere are 2 possibilities.

1. Open circuit in wiring circuit from left to right door lock actuators.
2. Door lock actuators faulty

I have just replaced actuator for the passenger rear door. It is working like a charm now. Now, the front passenger door is doing the same, once in while. So, it looks like I will need a new actuator there too. It already cost me $46 for the back door. And the dealer wants $60 for the front door.

It seems like there's a known issue here.

You can do this yourself if you want to save some money.
