We have a newly purchased relay in our substation i wonder if anyone here can help me understand it better. Can anyone enlighten me on how to compute the high set I>> time to to trip? I got a little confused with the low set I> having separate setting. Should I use the time multiplier of low set in computing the high set values? Is high set faster in a way than low set? Thanks to those who can respond.

Hello, By looking at the manual in note section on page 11, it looks like the high set stage blocks the low set stage when fault occurring with heavy fault current spaj 140c .PDF

* Note!
The operation of the low-set stage based on
inverse time characteristic will be blocked by
starting of the high-set stage. Then the operate
time of the overcurrent unit is determined by
the set operate time of the high-set stage at heavy
fault currents. In order to obtain a trip signal,

the high-set stage must be routed to a trip output relay.

on page 48 of the manual talks about the time settings and on page 49 in the note section talks about the low set stage will be blocked by the high set stage in a heavy current fault.

my note to this discustion: I have not used any equipment like this. What I have said here is from reading the manual. Maybe some of the others on here will respond is this is correct or not.
