11/29/2009 12:48 AM

i am working on data analysis using different transforms on influenza and cancer detection, but i dont know how to access data over the net ,so could any one suggest me ,as to how i could get real time data over the internet(clinical data -on behavioural characteristics of alpha NAGA concentrations in a region and E-Cadherin signal variation )

Re: how to access real time clinical data from the internet

Maybe your question is not too clear?

If you want to access data from someone's experiments, in general, the normal procedure would be to contact the researcher and request access to the data. The researcher would be able to tell you whether it can be sent by ordinary file transfer protocols, what software is needed to read it, etc.

"real time data" (clinical data). This presupposes that the clinical data on alpha NAGA and E-Cadherin is being collected electronically in real time.... "Clinical" means in vivo in a human being, who is therefore either tethered to the data collection equipment in a lab, or is equipped with a data collection/transmitter implant.

For any 'clinical' research, the likelihood that data is being streamed live on the internet and freely available is seems pretty remote. There are ethical considerations, consent requirements, etc. in research involving a human subject. There are also constraints likely on the part of the financial sponsors of the research (so much research is profit motivated, it's a fact of life, and the research setup implied in your request would not be cheap).

For already published work involving a past, real time clinical data collection, I would expect that the authors would be happy to provide you a copy of their original data. It's a standard feature of scientific enterprise, that you agree to provide your raw data for examination by others. You can then replay the real time data on your own computer and perform the data analysis transforms.

Hi Guest,

I am guessing that by 'real time' you refer to newly published tests and info' as they are published on the subject you are working on?

I suggest you look at other 'cell communication', and other sites on Tissue Architecture and Oncology perhaps.

Perhaps sites on the nervous system, and maybe the uptake of various drugs by the cells and or systems you mention, both with onset and after onset of Cancer. Though I doubt you will get much 'new' detail from any drug company, they may publish professional paper directed at the medical community?

The problem with such tests and investigations is, they are usually copyrighted and if that info is going in part or in total to be published again in Book form, the minutiae cannot be published. This is just my own thoughts, but they do seem to be borne out by the fact that most medical information is at best several months, and is more likely to be several years old before it is published?

Only you know exactly what you require, so why not look for a blog on a medical subjects you are working on, or go to well known sites where specialist subjects are reported on. Major Hospitals and Universities come to mind. Others doing the same or similar work as yourself, may know of other places and those places may have another list of interested parties................ etc. Perhaps then you could ask if they would be interested in supporting a Blog you run that does publish relevant info in an up to date form?

I list several links to sites publishing medical test details below:

Your assuming that we know which clinical data you have in mind and a quantity of it which is rather costly and occurs over a time span. Blood work, internal diagnosis, external diagnosis, and let's not forget about mental data analysis which utilized probes on the body and responses from the brain with MRI's and other scans would all be classed as clinical data. Laboratory data is a special format of clinical data that I doubt could be interpreted by everyone and have a meaning without having the other clinical information of that patient and a further clinical study of several individuals that are categorically within certain parameters such as location and environmental conditions. After you could access the significance of the entire study you would conduct if relative and significant to a major issue you become the only individual that could refer your study and a alert could be issued but if your destined to only publish what you have it places you in jeopardy of being a slammer and a stalker by authorities that would want to know whom else is looking for your request because of the issue of location being the major issue to any specific medical study.

Good luck in finding willing patients to participate with you whom all have the same location. Many doctors do not even bother to inform a patient of clinical data which is based on scales and percentages while they may only talk about statistics in general to folks that he has attended to whom have the same clinical reporting's and he instructs the patient what he would diagnose and how he would treat them in general which is not the same as everyone.

Hi CJ,

Wow, that was a bit involved!

You have a certain way of using the English Language.............. But take care that you read what you are about to publish, as possibly critical words are sometimes left out. No insult intended OK?

The whole reason for me publishing such a wide variety of data sources in my earlier post here, was because the OP did not and as far as I can see will not be returning.

Just another one of those 'G.-.H.-.O.-.S.-.T.-.S" whom ask a question then vanish into tin air! Oh well, no doubt someone will find some use for my effort in researching this?

Take care........
