Are Broadband RFID Detectors Available?

01/14/2007 9:13 PM

I have seen that RFID devices are functional, from the human body tracking to tracking beer kegs in transit. I am wishing to preferably build or minimally purchase a broadband detector that can be used for detecting a wide range of the devices. Are there plans for such an instrument published?

Also the GS positioning devices are at remarkably small, is there an earth bound public domain detector for those on the Market? There range covers the military to several commercial applications.

Yes they are most definitely "commercially" available and you should be able to find some on the web. They are typically sold by dealers specializing in spy gear (concealable audio and video equipment etc) and the "anti-spy gear" devices that are used to ferret out "bugs" and other concealed devices, including tracking devices of either the active or "passive" (they do not transmit unless read or queried) varieties.

I believe that there are also devices that will detect GPS devices but I am not sure what ranges or directionality they possess.

These devices are not inexpensive, and I am not aware of any plans for building one that are available.
