Generator Dimensions

12/09/2009 1:31 AM

Does anybody have precise hydro-generator dimensioning techniques? I have two documents and both of them are giving different results.

Regards,

Sks

One basically needs to know the flow rate and head pressure of the motive fluid to determine the size of a hydro-generator- and it is not surprising that two approaches would give different results. To analyze why they give different results, one needs to look at the assumptions they use as the base line for their calculations. I don't think you are going to find a simple rule of thumb type approach that can give you a reliable estimate of the size of your generator. Different styles of turbines, depending on whether you are looking at a high head/low flow or low head/high flow or low head/low flow, will have different size constraints for a given application.

Dear sir,

Thanks for your email. Basically, this is relevant to dimensioning of hydraulic turbines, but I am talking about hydro-generator.

Thanks,

Saurav.
