How to configure a ATI63 automatic generator change?

12/19/2009 7:29 AM

Dear all,

Could anyone there help me with some information on how to configure a ATI63 automatic generator change over switch to work with a single phase generator supplying a 3phase network(Load). I have tried it but when the mains goes off, the generator does not start automatically not until the generator the generator is started manually and the change done turned on manually that it supplies a load.

THANKS

Perry, the change over is 63A, 4wire and the generator is 18KVA, 3wire. The Load is 480 Volt, 3phase, 4wire.

Get a contactor with NC contact.Supply the contactor coil(energise) with power from the automatic generator. Apply a suitable DC voltage(12v or 24v whichever is used for the single phase generator start) thru′ the NC contact to the single phase generator kickstarter or starter cct,so that when the automatic generator goes off,the NC contact will bring in the DC voltage to start the single phase generator automatically. When it starts and produce its power, the power which should already have been supplied to the coils of a power contactor should come ON automatically either by timing(use of a timer relay) and power yr loads immediately. No more manual switching.

I hope this gives u a good idea or guide of what to do.U can also use NO contact for stopping the single phase Gen. thru′ the fuel solenoid stop cct, when automatic gen starts. Yr timing or timer must be well set for the operation.
