problem in acessing the folder

i formated my os windows xp,before formating the os i backuped the old file in other folder... now the problem is i can't access the that folder bcoz it asking old username and password... i forgot the old username and password.... how to access that folder ? is there any other way to access it?...

that's different...use a DOS program to access and transfer files...or use a Linux distro to do same

You can access it if you have a second PC (desktop or laptop) and an external HDD hub. If you do, or if you can find the aforementioned :

Remove your Hard Disk from your PC.

Put your HDD to the external hub.

Connect it as an external Hard disk.

Access your data.

Typically the passwords won't be active as your HDD will be an "external". It worked for me in a number of similar occasions.

Can also be connected as a Secondary or slave to the Boot-HDD

If the folder was made 'Private' when it was part of the old OS, all you have to do is take possession of the folder. Right click the folder, go to the securities tab, and add your (new) profile to the list. Make sure to give your user profile the permissions required while in the securities settings.
