Belt Conveyor Zero Speed Switch

12/23/2009 8:35 AM

in belt conveyor system we have zero speed sensors (for safety) in tail end, which is senseing the puls from pulley/min and give the feedback its moniter, moniter is operted by 230V AC and output gentration is 8VDC for sensor operating voltage, from the moniter 1 relay with NO contact which is give the helthy comand to PLC.

I would like to know if any body suggest me any secondary options for accept above mentioning.

Plz excuse my poor english

Please specify pulse sensor type, PLC type, and available I/O. Does this conveyor use drives for it's motors? What kind? How many? Is the conveyor speed PLC controlled? Explain "moniter". Standing by.

Using kanna electronis type sensors and relay unint. those conveyors are working in with out drives.

Moniter will sense the plus frm sensor in the moniter one continious plus generate and same will go to PLC. In PLC logic is made when plus came low it will trip the conveyor.

Not knowing all of the parameters and requirements makes all solutions hard:

But given that you have conveyors, that most likley have chain drives, they will have sprockets that drive the chain.

"Old School" the easiest method is to use a sensor on the teeth of the sprocket, in logic you can see the pulse when the teeth are moving, and when they are not.

This has been used for many years and is very dependable.

I used to design belt conveyors, and zero speed sensors on the tail pulley shaft were the common method used for verifying proper operation.
