Wanted: 120VAC 60A DPDT Electromechanical Switch

12/27/2009 1:48 AM

Where can I find a 120V AC 60A DPDT electromechanical switch? Intermatic doesn't make one, and I can't find another manufacturer. If an electromechanical switch is truly not available, then I will need to solve the problem with an electric control and a DPDT relay. I couldn't find on the Internet a DPDT relay with the above spec's. Where can I go to get the information. My local electrical supply houses have not been any help.

Forget about finding a DPDT switch with those specifications because you won't find one. To handle the specs you mentioned above, you should be looking for a Motor Control Contactor. You can easily find one manufactured by Allen Bradley or General Electric. You didn't mention the switching voltage but these are are all normally available with 24Vac/dc, 110Vac & 220Vac coil Voltages. They are multipole and should be able to provide the switching you require in NO/NC. I normally use RS International in Europe. They are available Worldwide. Here's a link to their main website. http://www.rs-components.com/index.html

I use these contactors on many different high voltage/current switching operations on heavy plant automation so you will definitely be able to adapt these to your switching application.

I hope you find this helpful!!

Take a look at Electroswitch. The series 105 is good for 75A and the KW series also have some higher ratings. Talk to them and let them know what you need to do.
