Extruding Monofilaments from LCPs

01/04/2010 1:21 PM

Can anyone recommend an extrusion company that has the capability to extrude monofilament fibres from a Liquid Crystal Polymer material. The fibres will be less than 50 microns in diameter and I want them provided on spools. Preferrably the extrusion company would work on a project basis as I want to run a number of trials before selecting the final product. There are a number of parameters I would like to vary in these trials:

1) Would like to compound additives (colour etc) with the base polymer (vectra).

2) I would like to make the fibre in a variety of diameters between 20-50 microns

3) I would like to produce fibres with different levels of orientation.

I want the resultant fibre to be very strong in tensile as well as having good knot properties.

Thanks

EamonB

Good morning,

We are manufacturers of specialty wire, cable and monofilament. We have extruded LCP in the past and would be willing to work with you on this R&D project. Are you still interested?

Take Care,

KimG

Hi KimG,

Yes I am interested. Do you have an e-mail address or web site so that I can follow up directly?
