Is it equipped with an anti-theft device? Check the archives. I recall some type of factory device that causes problems.

I am going to get a obd II scanner at autozone later.Did a scan around month ago and o2 sensor is faulty, dont think that will cause no start.

I quit working on vehicles when fuel injection came along, so I'll not be any help.

Good Luck.

This is not an all-inclusive list, and it is possible under some circumstances to add or delete items. It is a basic performance testing menu.

Basic testing sequence:

Pre (cold) start attempt:

Check for proper battery voltage

Install fuel pressure gauge

Check for pressure and volume (check spec table in repair manual)

Install engine analyzer

Check for spark at a minimum of two cylinders

Check for injector pulse at a minimum of two cylinders

Pull codes

Check ECM/ECU data stream

Attempt to start: if starts and runs:

During running, recheck:

Fuel pressure/volume

Primary/secondary ignition scope traces

ECM data stream

If your plugs smell of gas you will have to clean or replace them before they/the plugs will fire! You can clean them by removing the plugs and then heating the electrode end with a torch to burn off the fuel and any deposits on the plugs!

I have a friend that has an 01 cavalier and her car was having starting issues just a couple weeks ago too and hers turned out to be the ignition was shorting out cost her a little over $400 to get it fixed. Not sure if that will be any help but sounds kind of simular to what she had as a prob. Good luck on your quest!

i don't have much info to go on but. if your plugs are wet with fuel, that condition will set a o2 sensor code. you didn't say what engine is in you car. some engines in those cars have a fuel injector set up that will allow raw fuel to inter the intake manifold if the o rings leak.

Refer to #10. The pump may run, but that doesn't mean it's working properly. You need to check the pressure and volume.

Also, it could be another fuel related problem. The injectors may not be pulsing, or may be pulsing incorrectly. Several things can prevent fuel delivery for combustion.

You need to perform some basic tests to determine the problem.
