I think you could quite easily find this on the web. I design parts all the time that use screws and such and I don't have the tolerance memorized. IMO asking this kind of a question is kinda like asking a super computer what Pi is to the 12th digit. Yeah, it might be critical, and yup the super computer is gonna find it but why not just look it up? Not trying to be rude, just calling it like i see it.

You should get a copy of the Machinery Handbook. It sells for around $60 US or sometimes you can find pages floating around on the internet.

Depending on where you are... visit you local libary or schools / universtity they have copies of standards and you can get all the info you need about each standard for free.

The other option you can go the the standards website and purchase them over the internet

Hi,

There's no general tolerances on thread length. You can have a 3/16" hex head bolt according to any standard and the standard will give you the length of the threaded portion, and you may have a 3/16" threaded bar in several feet length from which you may cut studs at your own desired length.

Thread tolerances use to be defined for: pitch, flank angle, flank height, major diameter, mean diameter, etc. Length is open to the designer.

Regarding the other question part: ANSI = American National Standard Institute and UNI = Una Norma Italiana (National Italian Standard) and I don't think they may be equivalent (ANSI uses customary units, threads per inch (TPI), etc. European Standards use metric system.

Kind regards
