You simply use a branch connection on the pipe wall (perpendicular to the wall) and fit a manometer or pressure gauge of the appropriate range. You need to have some idea beforehand of what the pressure will be to select the right pressure range.

You can compute static head by multiplying the height of the liquid in the system (Hft ) by the weight of a one foot tall one inch column (Wlbs/ft) of the liquid.

Head Pressure = Hft X Wlbs/ft

For water Wlbs/ft = 0.433

Therefore; A 25 foot tall volume of water has a weight in pounds per square inch (PSI) of:

25 X 0.433 = 10.824 PSI
