Radiographic Testing (RT) and Welders

02/08/2010 11:55 AM

dear sir,

can you help me to know if we test a welder and the sample pass the visual test , so we have to test the sample by radiographic test for (2G,3G,5G,6G) positions,

the acceptance criteria for RT test according to ASME SEC IX ,or according the project stnadard i mean if we have pipe line we shall depend on the acceptance criteria of api 1104, or if we have station we shall depend on the acceptance criteria of b31.3

or the RT film shall be free from defects(no defect appears)

example,i have sample film for welder 3G isee in the film 4 mm slag is it acceptable or rejected

regards

Dear,

for welder qualification RT interpetation shall be accordance with acceptance criteria of section IX . production joint shall be interpetated by according to applicable code for i.e Process piping 31.3 and cross country line by API 1104.

you can refer QW.191.22 para of Sec IX for acceptance criteria.

for example 3mm slag is acceptable upto 10 mm thickness.

with Regards
