I doubt that the magnetic field is going to be an issue, but try sitting outside on your porch or deck some evening when it is the least bit humid or raining.

My experience has been that the constant buzzing will wear you down so that you spend most of your time inside with the windows up. What's the point of a yard?

Personally, I like quite. When I sit or go outside I really don't want to have to listen to manmade humming all of the time (or even part of the time).

Then again, if you are one of those people that buys a house where the back of the property boarders the highway and barbecue outside, swim in the pool, and like to watch the traffic go by, maybe a power station will be your equivalent of a peaceful waterfalls?

Lastly, think of resale. All the people that are like me will pass on your house when you go to sell. My brother is in that situation where the state just put up a windmill farm. It can be so loud that they can hear the blades inside with the windows closed. What was peace and quite in the beautiful countryside is now rotation hell and a devalued home.

Pass.

Meta-analysis of numerous independent studies indicates no statistically significantpositive correlation between various cancers and time spent in close proximity to power lines, power transmitting equipment and other electromagnetic fields associated with residential power transmission.

I do know of one small ongoing study with early data suggesting a strong correlation between those living near any public works project or large project of a corporation (wind turbine, dams, anything large enough too be noticed but either new or not well understood, really) and acute hypersensitivity to any stimulous that might come from such a project. Hypercondrism and paranoia are also positively associated. This study is small so the early data is limited, although the results do point to a strong correlation (especially when the person also has a relative who lives near something like a windmill).
