Home Security System

02/16/2010 2:44 AM

hello. my name is pijeng.

my project is about home security system that using MMS. Let me explain about design of this project first.

Firstly, the system will be detect the movement of any intruder going inside the house. So i believe any IR sensor should be suitable for that purpose.

Secondly, after the system detect the intruder it will take the picture of the intruder. So for that purpose i need a camera module (bulit in with microcontroller and compatible with pc software). now, i have a problem here because i have no idea what kind of camera module should i choose which are easy to install and low cost. Here, I'm Asking for help. I'm really need somebody to help me to choose what kind of camera module is suitable for me to use for my project.

Thirdly, after the system take the picture, it should be able to transmit that picture to mobile phone of the owner. For transmitting the picture, i need to use a suitable modem at low cost. Can anybody tell me which modem should i use and where can i get it?

Actually, my project is quit similar to this product MMS home scurity alarm (http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/205814888/MMS_home_security_alarm_system_ABS.html). But this product doesn't attached detail information, so i don't know what camera and modem they just used.

That's all. Thank you and regards.

Hello pijeng, The system you posted a link to is a self contained unit that has a mobile phone integrated into it. The ir/motion sensor activates the camera then the unit calls a preset number and then sends a multimedia file to the programed number like your cell phone.

Now I think what your wanting to setup is a more of a stander cctv system. There is a few ways it can be done.

First way is to have a 4-or more cameras DVR unit. This type of system is self contained. The dvr systems have input for 4 or more cameras, sound for at least one or more channels. And alarms inputs/outputs for different sensors or to trip alarms. The better dvr's systems have zone setups for motion sensing from the cameras to activate recording and alarm functions. Some can be interfaced into a lan/computer network.

Method two, is have a computer system with cctv camera interface cards with the correct software. You could then use any standard modem card to call your cell phone when something in the video image trips an alarm. Similar idea as from the first method. Although this method works it all dependent on what software is capable of.

Now in these two ideas there wire interface from the cameras to the dvr/computer. There are wireless links that can be used.

With either method you have a choice of cameras from low light black/white all the way up to color to both that have ir build in. With optics best suited to cover your needs from pin hole to telephoto. And low resolution to ultra high resolution.

Oh with either method you can even have PTZ =pan, tilt, zoom function in your cameras. Some systems will let you automate a scanning of an area.

Ultimately it comes down to cost, complexity, and just how much you want to cover.

I have used a 4 camera dvr system with a 24/7 real time record to a hard drive in the unit with output to a local monitor and tied into my local network for remote viewing.

Two of my cameras were ultra low light the other two were just low light. My location had security and enough ambient light that i did not need ir lighting for the cameras.

By not using ir lighting it did not reveal where I had the cameras located.
