Fillet Weld or Butt Weld?

The question, the weld of a branch connection must be considers like fillet weld or as a butt weld. Reference to ASME B31.3 Fig 328.4.4 and 328. 5.2A

Rerence to ASME B 31.3 fig 328.4.4 and 328.5.2A for branch connection it always considered as a fillet joint.

Estimated guest, AWS typifies 6 different welded unions. In this case (Branch connections) look that we have Butt's mixture with fillet weld, which must be born in mind to for the % of not destructive tests and also to the control of repairs. Of any form, thanks for your commentary.

Neither fillet nor butt, but full penetration groove welds. Almost by definition; a fillet weld is a partial penetration weld and is used on a welded branch connection as reinforcement, or in welder lingo a "cover pass." A butt weld is a full penetration groove weld used when the two spools of pipe are in parallel alignment. Butt welds also get some reinforcement, but since there is no angle between the two pieces being joined, its not considered a fillet.
