What do you need to know? XGA means Extended Graphics Array and was adopted by IBM as a standard back in 1990. What it means is that a display is capable of 1024x768 resolution and 32bit color.
Since then, we have stepped up to SXGA, which is 1280x1024, and UXGA at 1600x1200. Of course now these are being supplanted by wide screen displays, WXGA at 1280x800 and so forth. My 14.1" ThinkPad has a WXGA+ panel at 1440x900, just for example.
Display adapters are a little more complicated, but most are capable of everything from 800x600 on up.
