Dude, I once worked with a person who asked me to look at her vehicle because the AC was blowing hot air. When I looked under the hood, it was obvious that the compressor had locked up and the belt eventually burned up and fell off the car.

When I asked her how she could possibly have not heard such a terrible noise, her response was, "Oh, I heard it, I just turned up the radio". _{(She was serious!)}

It drives me nuts how some people treat their equipment and then wonder why it does not work properly.

Zero maintenance means zero operating cost. If you never fix anything it never costs you anything to operate it. Dont use it because it doesn't work properly but dont fix it because it doesn't get used enough to justify it. If it was fixed it would get used more but then it would also need more maintenance which would cost more.

This kind of stuff is too funny! And, at the same time sad. People (other people, not CR4 members) seem to exist at arms length with an understanding of any type of machine, equipment, tool...

My aunt had a (I think) Toyota Corolla (older car, no troubles; in fact, a pretty good car) and the 'Check Engine' lamp came on. A true mystery. After consulting with a number of her friends, they decided the car was sick, it had a boo-boo. So, as with any boo-boo they have ever encountered, simply placed an elastic bandage over the lamp. Out of sight, out of mind, I think she said. Eventually, the lamp went out (burned out), and she was convinced it was 'all better'.

As a preemptive answer to the next question: about 4 months. Main Bearing (as I recall) first, this was ignored (probably turned up the radio!), then the crankshaft gave out! Broke! Kaput! Blooey!

OK, I just have to ask. When you took the picture that is now your avatar, did you point the camera directly at her chest, or did you take her face too and crop it?
