increase the radiographic test percentage

dear sirs,

i hope all fine ,

can you help me to know the percentage of defects that according to it we should in increase the radiographic percentage in

1-tanks according to api 650

2-piping net works asme b31.3

3-pipe line api1104

for example :

i take x-ray for tank and after check the result i find that i have 25 % defects from the total tested joints so do i have to increase and how many joint or this ratio is ok,

Do you have a 25% failure rate? That's enough for me to shoot every joint, specifications not withstanding.

thanks ,

but is there any acceptance ratio for the defects pecentage

like 5% dfects ratio from the total number of the tested joints in pipe line or pipe net, acceptable or not that mean i will not test more joints and is there any code specify that ratio

I'm not an ISO 900X guy, but I know that your sample size increases with increase in failures (nonconformances). There are many Statistical Process Control (SPC) sampling systems base on Military Specs. that can be found on the internet. If you google Statistical Process Control you should find a schedule the will give you the level of quality you desire.

However: the Nondestructive Testing (NDT) requirements that are specified by ASME are for each weld type based on service temperature and pressure. There is no relief from these NDT requirements because you haven't had any failures. I'm basing this on previous experience/knowledge of the codes. Things may have changed in 10 years.

for piping, in one joint if any defect found, that to be repaired and additional two number radiography to be done.

for tanks All T-joints should be radiographed
