Pipe Acronyms - PERM and BPUL

03/16/2010 10:06 PM

I am quoting pipe takeoffs on a civil engineering project. I am a EE and am not familiar with CE nomenclature. I have done a couple of searches including acronymfinder.com

Any ideas?

TIA, Jim

Most set of membrane treatment plants plans have a few pages up front of definitions either in the drawings or specifications. Those type of designations can be, and often are, established by the designing engineer custom to the particular job. For example PERM is probably a functional description of the direct permeate line from the membranes - however the materials likely vary be location - hopefully its discussed in your specifications also. Pull out the spec index and look for piping systems. Even better find a civil engineer and buy him a cup of coffee.
