AGMA for Gear Box

04/01/2010 3:43 AM

Dear all,

As per Client requirement, "Gear unit shall be in accordance with AGMA Standard 6011 fully, not just as regards ratings, and they shall also be in accordance with AGMA STANDARD 6010"

What I know, 6011 is for Helical gear.

While 6010 is for Spur, Helical gear.

All the vendors have quoted AGMA 12 Gears.

Expert can help me to clarify 1dt the diff. betweem 6011/10 and AGMA 12 and how it is diff. from 6011/10.

Regards,

AGMA 12 is the gear accuracy class? If it is old AGMA (unaligned) then Class 12 is an high accuracy one. May be that will be OK.

AGMA 6010-F97 Standard for Spur, Helical, Herringbone and Bevel Enclosed Drives

BTW - this (and also 6009) is replaced with AGMA 6013-A06 (standard for industrial enclosed gear drive)

ANSI/AGMA 6011-I03 Specification for High Speed Helical Gear Units

It all depends upon what is the application that will define the quality class as weel as the referred AGMA number. But AGMA 12 (tight tolerance) is good enough.
