Last night, 60 Minutes featured a segment called "The Highway in the Sky", which detailed the reasonably close future of personal air transport and technologies in development from NASA that could allow it to happen. Profiles included Woody Norris and his AirScooter. The focal point, however, was on NASA Langley's Highway in the Sky computer system, which provides a graphic description for pilots showing them exactly where they are in real time and places them within safe routes as long as the pilot keeps his or her plane in a box on the screen. Its basically an in flight video game. The interface will prevent accidents and will even help novice pilots land their vehicles.
